scroll

you have a photo of Milky you would like included here, email it to
me at: k@studioksr.com “Milky Whey,” adorned with favorite constellations,
celebrates the beauty of the milky way galaxy as seen in the northern
skies and is the Cow Parade creation of Katherine Steichen Rosing.
Milky’s golden hooves and horns contrast with the deep blue
starry sky filled with constellations painted on her voluptuous belly.
Daytime visitors can study constellation patterns
including old favorites like Orion, Big Bear, Cassiopeia and some
lesser known like Draco, the dragon, and Cygnus the Swan. Evening visitors
will appreciate that Milky’s constellations and shooting stars
will glow in the dark, inviting young and old star gazers to test
their study of the constellations. Milky

February
2, 2006. Milky gets an under painting today of a blue glaze. Milky's eyes turned
blue-green last night, and her horns and hoofs glistened
with gold. February 1, 2006 The light
blue band is the Milky Way Milky is learning about
contemporary art today. Friday
the 13th of January, was an auspicious day for "Milky Whey"
our adopted cow. In
the midst of snow and rain, she was transported to my studio. Milky
was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture for Wisconsin's FFA
as part of Cow Parade Wisconsin 2006 The Original

A herd of three cows sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, Trade
and Consumer Protection (DATPC) will travel the state during the summer
and early fall stopping at fairs, dairy breakfasts, community celebrations
and other public events. This "Cow Tour" is coordinated
by DATCP, the Wisconsin FFA Foundation and The Wisconsin FFA Foundation.
The traveling herd is made possible by Kwik Trip.

Milky contemplates
her travel schedule, she's hoping you will visit!

My friend Kohji
Ohsono, a wonderful contemporary painter from Tokyo learned
to milk when he visited us in March

Mike
Rosing stretches his legs and takes a turn at milking . .
. with two growing boys, we need all the milk we can get!

Stars
were added February 5 - 7th -- this is still the underpainting, the
brightest stars will be added after another deep blue glaze covers
everything later.
The main constellations
are established, but I still have to add more stars before the next
blue glaze. (A glaze is a transparent layer of paint.)

Oh,
my neck . . . . . . . . and Michaelangelo was on his back for how
long? This is udderly ridiculous (and I can't even spell any more)
February 8, Chores need
to be done before we take off for the weekend! (neighbor kid will milk
her while we are gone . . .

Special
thanks to Mike and Josh Rosing for photography
and assistance
