On Trails

I'm reading a wonderful book called “On Trails. an exploration,” written by Robert Moor. This is beautifully written and blends history, philosophy, and science with the physicality of the trail.

Early in the book he observes that often after a long day of hiking he only saw the trail at his feet, and not the view. I was reminded of that passage today while I was I hiking at Star Lake, there were tree roots everywhere, and damp slippery pine needles beneath my feet, tripping hazards everywhere, like most trails actually.

But the trail rewarded me with so many incredible sights I thought I'd share a few here.
